Bowood House

We went to Bowood House and Gardens on Wednesday, August 16th, even though it is just three hours distant from where we reside. I took my younger brother, who had attended a birthday celebration there a few years before, as well as Shaniah and my mother, who were playing games for the day. Shaniah awoke at the crack of the morning, a look of pure joy on her face, as she had been asking all week whether today was the day we were going to see Tractor Ted's tiny farm, and today I could finally answer yes! We dressed, packed Shaniah's suitcase with a change of clothes because she is now wearing trousers, and packed a packed lunch. We travelled to Heathrow Airport and walked out seeking a cab, which we ordered through company, an online cab service.

I noticed a man wearing trousers and a flat hat on his head, carrying my nametag. We approached him and introduced myself; he greeted me cheerfully and accepted my baggage. He then loaded the bags into the cab's boot, and we went about our business. We were all quite enthusiastic at this time, and we all had various things we wanted to see. Mum couldn't wait to see the House, Ashley couldn't wait to see the Adventure playground, Shaniah couldn't wait for the soft play, and I couldn't wait to see everything. We had arrived at our destination, but all we could see were new construction houses...

That's when I spotted the Bowood View street sign. After a little while, we observed a large Bowood sign and yelled out a collective hurray! We had arrived when we turned into a lane! It was very simple to find once you know where you were heading! Bowood starts at 11 a.m., but the café opens at 10:30 a.m., so if you arrive a little early, you may have a wonderful coffee to get you ready for the day! We came at 11 a.m. and were permitted to enter immediately. We were surprised by how many cars were already there; we knew it was a popular spot, but that was an understatement. We then headed to the café, where Ashley and her mother had "one of the nicest coffees" they had in a long time, while Shaniah had a fruit shot and I went for fresh apple juice by Bowood, which was simply wonderful! We were permitted to enter the home, but we were not permitted to take pictures or movies of the interior, which is quite acceptable.

It was very stunning on the inside, and the kids were awestruck at how many books there were, as well as their rug! There were so many paintings that I would hate to be the one who dusts! You can go upstairs, but we didn't this time since we had too much stuff, including a pram. We took a trip around the garden after walking through the home and getting some mementoes from the gift store; it felt endless but it was very gorgeous! Ashley enjoys gardening and was pointing out the flowers he'd want to have in his garden. We then tossed money into the fountain outside the house's front door. Shaniah had a great time doing this, which was no surprise given her penchant for tossing money away!
