The Museum of Childhood London is a lesser-known museum that does not compete with the South Kensington titans, but it is well worth a visit if you have time while in London. The Museum of Childhood is part of the V&A, the Victoria and Albert Museum, which specialises in art and design and is one of the main three in South Kensington. He is no longer attempting to appeal to people who "revel in nostalgia with things in glass cases," but rather is "far more focused on the requirements of youngsters and early adolescence." Children aged 4 to 14 are the target population. Originally known as the Bethnal Green Museum, it opened in 1872 in what was then London's impoverished East End, showcasing diverse exhibits until 1974 when it was transformed into the Museum of Childhood by V&A director Roy Strong. Its building was last restored in 2003-06 for £5 million, including a new entrance.The present renovation will cost £13 million, of which two-thirds has already been donated (including a grant from the Wolfson Foundation in the United Kingdom).

With Covid-19, fundraising has been difficult, but Hunt is certain that it will be completed. The doll's house collection is incredible. On the small tables at Queen Mary's, there are still framed family portraits of King George. It's not just about the toys; the museum also has artefacts related to children throughout history. You may examine children's clothing, shoes, strollers, and seats. It's a wonderful social history lesson that helps pupils understand periods. It's fantastic for kids to learn about how youngsters from different socioeconomic backgrounds used to live.
